GENERAL INFORMATION Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, which was established at 2012, was begin to operate in 2013. Currently, one Associate Prof. Dr., two Assistant Prof. Dr. and one teaching assistant serving in our department.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with examples: Gradutates of “Molecular Biology and Genetics” Department could continue their academic life as a researcher or faculty member in universites, institutes and research centers located in Turkey and foreign countries. Also, they could work in R.D., clinical research and sales units of medical firms, units doing medical analysis in hospitals or private laboratories, in firms or foundations doing biotechnological studies, in production and quality control of biological products (vaccines, medicines, serums, etc.) and management of these facilities, in forensic medicine and criminology laboratories, in sectors of food, agriculture, livestock, environment and health and related ministry units.
Level of Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree : This is a First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) program. Master’s Degree : This is a Second Cycle (Master’s Degree) program. Qualification Awarded: Bachelor’s Degree: The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science / Arts. Master’s Degree: The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Master of Arts / Science (MA / MS).
Qualification requirements and regulations: In order to be awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree, students are required to have completed all the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent of 240 ECTS) in the program and to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00. In order to be awarded with a Master’s Degree, students are required to have completed all the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent of 120 ECTS) in the program and to pass the thesis examination. In order to be awarded with a Doctorate Degree, students are required to have completed all the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent of 240 ECTS) in the program and to pass the thesis examination. FOR TURKISH STUDENTS In the framework of the regulations determined by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), student admission to this undergraduate program is carried out through a university entrance examination named ÖSYS. Following the submission of students’ academic program preferences, they are placed into the relevant program according to the score they get from ÖSYS by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS International students are accepted to the program according to the score of one of the international exams they have taken such as SAT I,ACT, GCE etc. or according to their scores of the International Student Examination held by Turkish universities within the admission requirements on condition that their score is sufficient.
FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS Exchange student admission is carried out according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, Farabi, Mevlana or General Academic Memorandum) signed by BEU and the partner university.
FOR VISITING STUDENTS Visiting students can enroll for the courses offered in programs upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, students need to submit proof of their English language level for enrollment since the medium of instruction in some lectures is English.
FOR MASTER’S DEGREE Students must apply the related Institutes with the required documents within the dates announced in the BEU website. Requirements for application and documents required have been determined in the BEU regulation of Postgraduate Education and Examination
