Our Department Head, Prof. Dr. Ender BÜYÜKGÜZEL, delivered a seminar titled “Social Media Addiction and Its Physiological Effects” as an invited speaker to the students of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at our university. The event took place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 14:00, at the Genç Ofis on our university’s Farabi Campus, with the participation of students and faculty members from the Psychology Department.

The seminar covered the following topics: What is addiction?, Definition of social media addiction, Brain chemistry, Neurotransmitters, Neuromodulators, Impulse transmission, Reticular formation, Limbic system, Brain’s reward center, Dopaminergic pathways, the mesocorticolimbic dopamine pathway which plays a key role in the development of addiction, and the Addiction Cycle. The event concluded with suggestions on what we can do for a “Happy person and a Happy brain.”
