On January 13, 2025, 10th grade students from TED Zonguldak College Private High School and their biology teacher Ahu ÇAKIR visited our department with the aim of observing, experiencing, and gaining information about the studies conducted in our department. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ender BÜYÜKGÜZEL, TED Zonguldak College students first attended a seminar covering the basic principles of inheritance and an introduction to the profession of Molecular Biology and Genetics.

Afterwards, Drosophila melanogaster, an important model organism used in genetic studies, was observed under a stereomicroscope. DNA isolation from strawberries was demonstrated, and prepared slides of nervous tissue, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue, blood tissue, and various invertebrate animals were examined under a light microscope.

The experiments and applications conducted during the visit were carried out with the contributions of Molecular Biology and Genetics graduate students Çağrı ALKAN, Muhammet Kutsal ÇOPUR, Shams SARIMAMMADLI, and Kübra ASLAN. We would like to thank our Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Kadir DEMİR, and Vice Dean, Prof. Dr. Rıdvan BALDIK, for their valuable support during the visit, as they visited the students while they were engaged in observation and practice.
